Mel Woodend Poetry Events

February 2017

Mel performed ‘Plight of the Turtles’ and ‘The Octopus’ from Journeys & Memories (2015) at There is No Planet B Stafford Green Arts Festival. She won the People’s Choice Award for ‘Plight of the Turtles’. This was her first public poetry appearance, which she enjoyed immensely.

April 2017

Mel attended Speaking Out Midlands’ Spoken Word Evening at Caffe Del Nino – her first open mic event. She enjoyed meeting and listening to other poets at the event and had fun reading six poems from her own collections:

‘A Good Book’ and ‘Nails’ from A Poet’s Poems (2015); ‘The Octopus’ from Journeys & Memories (2015); ‘First Dip’ from Poems Of Spring (2016); and ‘You Are’ and ‘The Wise Cat’ from her forthcoming poetry collection Natural Colours due to be published 30/4/17.

May 2017

Mel launched her fourth poetry collection Natural Colours which is now for sale on this website, available from Amazon, for sale at The Bookshop at the Wolseley Bridge Craft Complex, Stafford, stocked at Worcester City Museum & Art Gallery, and available from Worcester Cathedral.

Her launch event at Stafford Library on 13th May featured refreshments and a talk by Mel on poetry therapy and the idea of writing creatively as a therapeutic aid to healing; followed by a book signing.
